CCAEJ Is Stronger Than Ever And Moving Towards Better Serving Our Community
Jurupa Valley - CCAEJ is stronger than ever and moving towards serving the community to ensure we continue the mission for environmental justice and community action for all. To further these objectives, we have made some institutional changes and believe these will enable us to move forward to best serve the needs of our community.
We are excited to announce that Italia Garcia will now serve as the organization’s interim Executive Director. Garcia will lead CCAEJ’s ongoing efforts in support of civic engagement, Census 2020 outreach, environmental policy, and environmental justice organizing.
“I am proud to be serving our communities in this capacity as the Interim Executive Director,” said Garcia. “The Inland region continues to be in dire need of environmental justice advocacy, and I am determined to ensure we continue to be at the forefront of this movement for good jobs, clean air, and a regenerative economy.”
For more than 10 years, Garcia has been a vocal and passionate leader of social justice issues. She has led numerous organizing efforts throughout California and across the country in support of pro-immigrant and worker rights, and civic engagement. She previously worked with Mi Familia Vota and the Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers (SEIU-UHW).
“CCAEJ is excited to welcome Italia as the interim Executive Director and we are excited to see the organization thrive,” said Demetria Espinoza, board President. “Italia will carry the important work that this 40 year organization has been committed to. Her leadership will ensure we foster important relationships with our stakeholders.”
